Repairing Leaks in Silver
Sterling Silver and Silver Plate
Leak Repair in Sterling Silver Baby Cup
The customer did not want the dents and wrinkles removed in this baby cup (which may have resulted in more cracks or leaks.) The request from the customer was to repair the tiny leak and polish the cup.
Silverplate Hot Water Kettle Leaks Repaired
This hot water kettle was brought in with one leak, but in fact, it had two, one on either side. This is not uncommon. When there is one leak, all you see is a flood of liquid. Then after the big leak is fixed, I see the smaller pin hole leaks elsewhere. Since this silver plate hot water kettle was a brass base metal, I could use my high tech TIG welder, filling in the hole with sterling welds.
Two sterling Kiddish Cups with leaks repaired
Both of these Kiddish cups had a leak. The cup on the left, had a very small hole in the embossed relief design. The taller Kiddish cup on the right had two holes in the beaded direction.
Leak Repair in Teapot Near Spout
Leaks near the spout are rather common and very difficult to repair. In this case, I added an attractive sterling silver wire at the bottom of the spout to seal the leaks at the bottom of the spout without damaging the silver plating. The wire looked so good that you would never know I added it to the design.
